Timothy Carl Kvislen

Timothy Carl Kvislen (“Quiz”), age 76, of Finley, North Dakota, passed away on January 4, 2026, at Mayville Luther Memorial Home.

Timothy Carl Kvislen was born on October 6, 1949, at Mercy Hospital in Valley City, North Dakota, to Carl and Kaye Kvislen. He was raised in Sanborn, North Dakota, where he attended school and graduated from high school.

Following his education, Tim proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1973. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Boiler Technician Second Class (BT2), E-5, and served aboard the USS Cochrane (DDG-21) guided missile destroyer.

After his military service, Tim met the love of his life, Candy Musser. The couple was married on July 6, 1974, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Tim dedicated 46 years of his career to Finley Farmers Elevator, where he earned the respect of colleagues and community members alike for his strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment. He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Finley Fire Department for 33 years.

In his leisure time, Tim enjoyed deer hunting, gardening, and watching western films. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.

Tim is survived by his wife, Candy Kvislen; his daughters, Melissa (Corey) Genter and Jenny (Joshua) Carlson; and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Ben Kvislen, and his parents, Carl and Kaye Kvislen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Veterans Honor Flight of ND/MN or the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.

Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Monday, January 12, 2026 at the Finley Lutheran Church in Finley, ND.

Military Honors: Peterson~Olson Post 13 and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors.

Burial: Will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND.
