Ryan Kent Domier, 54, of Portland, ND passed away unexpectedly on November 8, 2022 after a car accident.
Ryan was born on July 12, 1968 to Rosalyn and Kenneth Domier in Mayville, ND. After Ryan graduated from Mayville-Portland High School in 1986, he went on to receive a BA in Business Administration with a minor in Accounting from Mayville State University in 1990.
Ryan’s first love was farming, and he was a full-fledged farm boy. He grew up working beside his dad Kenny and brother Kory which continued all of his life. While he had other business ventures (Sodbusters and Portland Liquor Store/PLS), his heart belonged to the land. He was known around the farm for being able to fix anything which included mechanical, welding and extended to carpentry. He was the truly the jack of all trades.
Ryan’s second love was music. He was such a gifted musician who could play a song after just listening to it a couple of times. Ryan was always making music, whether it was in band in high school, his first band Feedback, the “big one” Pure Country and in the most recent years Portland Junction. The look of pure happiness that spread on his face when he was on stage was undeniable or just singing to the heavens in the garage. Music was his language and when words failed music would speak.
On December 15, 2001, Ryan met Mandi Hoffmeyer while on a poker run. Ryan came into Mandi’s life during a time of need and became her rock. Becoming the Dad, he didn’t have to be to Jaxon and Mandi gained another son in Ross. Together, Ryan and Mandi had a little girl, Addison. The love and pride Ryan had for his children was undeniable and the sparkle in his eye was even brighter when he spoke of each of them.
Ryan is survived by his loving wife: Mandi; their children: Ross of Winneconne, WI, Jaxon of Portland, ND and Addison of Portland, ND; parents: Rosie and Kenny Domier; brother: Kory; nephew: Kolby; niece: Kinsey and numerous additional nieces and nephew.
Ryan is preceded in death by his grandparents: Arthur and Clara Domier and Kenneth and Gladys Hanson; best friend: Bruce Karlstad and other lifelong friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
