Ruth Kensrud

   Ruth Kensrud, 96, of Lisbon, ND, formerly of Portland, ND died on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at CHI Lisbon Health in Lisbon, ND.      Ruth was born July 8, 1921 in Hatton, ND to Sever and Kaia (Koldingsness) Lonne. She grew up and attended country school through the 8th grade. Ruth was united in marriage to Conrad Kensrud on June 27, 1945. They farmed on the Kensrud family farm until retirement. Upon retirement, they moved to Portland, ND. In 2014, Ruth moved into the Beverly Anne Assisted Living Center in Lisbon.      Ruth was an active member of Bang Lutheran Church. She loved teaching both Sunday school and summer bible school. Ruth enjoyed working closely with the ladies of Bang. Ruth crocheted countless afghans and enjoyed working in her vegetable garden. She always had a pot of coffee and a plate of cookies for anyone who stopped by for a visit. Visitors often played a game or two of cards (which she loved winning). She will be remembered most for her amazingly positive attitude. She chose to see the joy in all things.      She is survived by a daughter: Kay (Russell) Reinke of Lisbon, ND; two sons: Terry (Wanda) of Oakley, MI and Loren (Marlene) of Gold Canyon, AZ; Ruth is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law: Vernal of Roy, WA; a sister-in-law: Centes of San Diego, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband: Conrad.       In lieu of flowers, memorial to Bang Lutheran Church are preferred.   Visitation:  Will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Bang Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. Burial: Will be on Thursday 5/17/2018 at 9AM in the Bang Cemetery in Portland, ND.
