Ronald Gerald Viseth

February 18, 1951 — November 5, 2018

Ronald Viseth, 67, of Mayville, ND passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.    Ronald “Ron” Viseth was born on February 18, 1951 to Gerald and Adeline Viseth in Mayville, North Dakota. He attended school in Mayville and The Minnesota West Community & Technical College, where he became certified in Auto and Diesel Mechanics. He met the love of his life, Jody, on November 24, 1981 and five years later they were happily married.    Ron was a talented man who was able to work in a variety of fields, from the oil rigs in ND and CO, to concrete labor, and diesel and auto mechanics.  He could fix anything and had an ingenious way of making things work.  After some time in these industries, he was inspired to create his own business. With the help of Jody and several others, Ron opened his own business, J&R Hose and Fittings in the spring of 1994.    Ron was known best for his joking personality and his tireless work ethic.  He always had a way to make people laugh even if he was putting them to work!  When Ron wasn’t working; he was working. He always kept busy with something; whether it was a table that needed sanding, or a carburetor that needed cleaning, his hands were moving. He had a passion for cars and motorcycles. He spent countless hours in his shop tinkering and creating something out of seemingly nothing. He found so much joy in hearing his hot rod roar to life after he built the engine from scratch. One of his biggest accomplishments was his handmade 1951 Harley, which he pieced together over multiple years. He was so proud of this Masterpiece, and he loved showing it to his friends. Ron also loved nature and the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting with friends and family. Ron was also an avid “treasure hunter”. He saw value in the peculiar things he would find. He enjoyed panning for gold and metal detecting, but he really enjoyed Urban Mining.    Ron loved his family and enjoyed the yearly campouts at the lake with all the brothers, sisters and their families. He was proud of his sons, Shane and Shawn. Ron loved to sit around the campfire and tell stories.  He was very fond of practical jokes.  He will be missed by all.    He is survived by his wife: Jody; son: Shawn Viseth; brothers: Wayne Viseth and Allan (Nancy) Viseth; sisters: Deanna (Ned) Coon, Emily (Alan) Kraling, Marlene (Loren) Kensrud, Peggy (Tim) O’Shea, Carol (Gary) Vigen, Mary Beth (George) Elliott; and many nieces and nephews.    He is preceded in death by his son: Shane Viseth; father: Gerald Viseth and mother: Adeline Hayes; grandmother: Sarah Viseth; brothers: Larry, Doug and Steve Viseth; niece: Lynn Halverson; nephew: Darin Klabo  and a sister-in-law: Carla Viseth.    Blessed Be the Memory of Ronald Viseth  Visitation:  Will be 5–7 PM with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Baker Funeral Home in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. Burial: Will be at the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
