Ronald Dale Rising

Ronald Dale Rising,96, of Mayville, ND and formerly of Grand Forks passed away April 25 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville where he had lived since February 19,2026.

Ron was born February 17,1930 in Bertha, MN the son of Archie Beverly and Clarice (Scott) Rising. The family lived in many small towns in Minnesota. Ron worked in Lake Bronson, MN with his father at a creamery and received a certificate as a butter maker. He moved to Grand Forks in 1950 and worked for Bridgeman Creamery from 1950-1992 where he retired in 1992.

Ron was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served from 1952 to 1953. He was united in marriage to Marie Delores DeFoe on November 28,1953 after returning home from Korea. They lived in Grand Forks and raised their 8 children. Delores passed away March 5,1990. Ron later married Vivian McDonald on October 10,1992. They moved to Mayville after they lost their home in the 1997 flood. Vivian passed away April 17, 1999.

Ron enjoyed duck, goose and deer hunting. Took occasional trips to the casino with the bus and played Bingo at Senior Center. He spent many hours coloring adult coloring pages and framing them to share with everyone. He loved to make stage coaches, wagons and horses with wood. He was always tinkering doing some project. He loved watching old westerns and the Minnesota Twins baseball.

He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Grand Forks and Mayville. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Grand Forks and Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Mayville.

Ron is survived by his children: Richard (Pam) Rising of Grand Forks, ND, Corinne (Morgan) McCumber of Springfield, GA, Mary Jane (Steven) Montgomery of Enoch, UT, Beverly (Eric) Winge of Anacortes, WA, Ronald Paul (Tonya) of Grand Forks, ND and Margaret Rising of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren: Rachel Rising, Jared Rising, Lolly (Jason) Whatley, Eric Thoraldson, Kristi Thoraldson, Steven Montgomery, Alex Montgomery, Karl LaPine and Chad LaPine; great grandchildren: Jace and Payton Whatley, Ronan and Torin Beam and Blake LaPine; brother: Ray (Doris) Rising of Waxhaw, NC and many nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; wives: Delores and Vivian Rising; daughters: Renee and Roberta Rising; grandson’s: Jeromy LaPine and Cody Rising and a brother: Beryl Rising.

Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Monday, May 4, 2026 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church (846 5th Ave SE) in Mayville, ND.

Military Honors: May~Port Honor Guard and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors.

Burial: Will be in the Memorial Park South Cemetery in Grand Forks, ND.
