Robert Louis Tollefson

September 26, 1954 — July 21, 2020

Robert Louis Tollefson, 65, of Mayville, ND, died on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at his home in Mayville, ND.

Robert was born on September 26th, 1954 in Moorhead MN, to Willard and Marlys (Olson) Tollefson. He was raised in Fargo ND and graduated from Fargo South High School in 1974. He was passionate about music, making music, playing music and listening to his rock and roll. He met his wife during a band practice in 1977 and they were married on October 6th, 1978. They had three sons together.

Robert would go on to pursue his musical career, playing in several bands over the years including The Coachmen, The Country Demons and his own most recent band, TellStar. He played the Bass guitar, second guitar and drums, and did some singing from time to time. He would often share stories about his gigs and had many fond memories of the crowds and people who enjoyed his music. Robert remained passionate about music up to his death. He believed in hard work. He never wanted to be idle, and when he couldn’t support his family through his music he worked odd jobs here and there, never minding hard work. Robert was a clerk at an arcade for many years, delivered for the Fargo Forum, unloaded freight trucks and even picked up janitorial jobs. He loved a good game of Bingo or Poker and loved spending time with his grandchildren, often doing special little things for them on holidays. He was a fan of riding bike and not being able to drive in his later years never stopped him from getting where he wanted to be, no matter the distance.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his middle son David, and his three brothers, Ronald, Roger and Thomas.

Robert is survived by his wife Patricia, his sons Dan (Britta) of Fargo, Dana of Pelican Rapids MN, three grandchildren, Jessamyn, Nathan and Parker and one sister, Judy (Jerry) Hertel. As well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
