Lois Ruth Hanson

November 23, 1919 — July 29, 2018

   Lois Ruth Hanson, 98, of Mayville, ND died Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND.    Lois was born on November 23, 1919 in Walla Walla, Washington to Willie and Amanda (Pearson) Nelson. She graduated from Webster High School in 1937 and earned her teachers certificate from Jamestown College in 1939. She taught elementary school in Milton, ND; Waubun, MN; Harvey, ND; Fargo, ND and Hillsboro, ND.    She was married to David Hanson June 30, 1946. They were members at Gran Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND and made their home in Hillsboro, ND.  After retirement, she taught literacy and GED courses in Hillsboro.      Lois had many interests in life including travel, knitting and crochet, and playing cards.  She belonged to a variety of organizations including NDEA, Gran WELCA, American Legion Auxiliary and New Homemaker’s Club.      Lois is survived by her son: Larry (Shirley) Hanson; her granddaughters: Stephanie Hanson (Jonathan Pikalek), Linda (David) Klinger, and Lori (Jacob) Jaffa and 7 great-grandchildren.      She was preceded in death by her father Willie, mother Amanda, step-father Nels Mikkelson, two brothers Lloyd and Floyd and her husband David as well as many other dear family members and friends. Visitation:  Will be 4–6 PM with a 6 PM Public Prayer Service on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Gran Lutheran Church in rural Mayville, ND. Burial: Will be at the Gran Cemetery in rural Mayville, ND.
