Lindsey Michelle Brustad, 43, passed away in her sleep at her home in Pompano Beach, FL on June 27, 2025. Lindsey was the beloved daughter of Michael and Terri Brustad.
Born on April 21, 1982, in Casper, Wyoming, Lindsey moved with her family first to Rapid City, South Dakota, and eventually to Denver, Colorado, where she spent most of her life. She cherished the time she spent each summer in North Dakota and gathered with her extended family there for most Christmases—traditions that deeply shaped her sense of connection and joy.
To know Lindsey was to know her devotion and love for others—and for any animal or insect that crossed her path. Lindsey was very creative with a passion for videography. When she was nine, she was given the use of the family camcorder and proceeded to cast her friends and cousins in her live productions of cooking shows, music videos, and talk shows complete with live commercials. This early dream spurred her to make her way to Los Angeles at age 19 to pursue and earn a film degree at California State University, Northridge.
A bright, creative, and dedicated professional, Lindsey built a career in media and advertising. She spent time working with the Ellen DeGeneres cast, and most recently, she served as a Senior Media Buyer and Planner at Intermedia Advertising, where she was known for her sharp strategic mind, professionalism, and warm collaboration with colleagues. Lindsey paused her career to move to Florida and raise her two beautiful daughters. She spent a great deal of time volunteering in their schools, sitting on the PTA board, and was heavily involved in raising funds to build multiple school playgrounds. Lindsey was the planner in our family, orchestrating family trips and get-togethers with impressive detail—complete with spreadsheets and agendas. She had a gift for bringing people together and loved nothing more than opening her home to friends and celebrations.
In her most recent years, Lindsey found a love of drawing and painting, inherited from her dad and Grandpa Brustad. She also loved to sing, a gift passed down from both sides of her musical family—and did so beautifully. We will miss her deeply during our family karaoke gatherings.
Lindsey brought her thoughtful spirit, sense of humor, funny movie quotes, quick wit, and deep compassion to every circle she was part of. She loved cooking, traveling, playing cards and making up silly songs. She was a devoted daughter and sister, a loving mother, a loyal friend, and someone who approached life with both intelligence and heart.
Lindsey is survived by her beloved daughters, Mackenzie and Madilyn Flanagan; her parents, Michael and Terri Brustad; her sisters, Tricia (Chris) Pomering of Sisters, OR and Jessica (Evan) Gerwig of Cheyenne, WY; nieces and nephews Andrew Pomering, Lilly Pomering, Easton Gerwig, and Nora Gerwig; her grandfather, Earl Loken; her former husband, Reginald Flanagan; and many friends and extended family who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ken and Jean Brustad and Vivian Loken; her aunt and uncle, Lori (Loken) and Curtis Johnson.
A gathering to honor Lindsey’s life will be held at Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND, on Tuesday, July 29 from 1 – 3 p.m. where stories will be shared, memories honored, and her remarkable spirit remembered with joy and gratitude.
Her burial will be in the Brinsmade Lutheran Garden of Memories Cemetery near Brinsmade, ND.
Our family is deeply grateful to God for the gift of Lindsey’s life—for the love she gave, the joy she shared, and the light she brought into our lives.
