Linda Ingebretson

August 23, 1949 — March 19, 2023

Mayville

Linda “Ma or Inga” Ingebretson of Mayville, North Dakota age 73 passed away March 19, 2023 after a courageous 2 1/2 year battle with cancer. She was born on August 23, 1949, daughter of Margaret (Lee) and Orlo Heskin.

Linda is survived by the only love of her life AJ Ingebretson of Grandview MO, her daughter Kathy (Travis) Wallace and son Jon Ingebretson both of Leawood KS; grandchildren Mason Richman, Maguire Richman, Abby Wallace and Gannon Wallace; brother Bob (Nancy) Heskin and sisters Gail Halvorson and Lois Hofstrand; many loving nieces, nephews and inlaws; and the grand dogs she loved Waylon, Finley and Jordy.

Linda loved life to the fullest and will be remembered for her passion of great food, games and sports. A day didn’t go by where she didn’t make a great meal and shortly after, plan the next one. Her favorite special meal was steak and king crab legs. She loved being able to serve the community when she purchased Ma’s Drive In. It only seems right to serve her ‘famous’ BBQ and potato salad at the reception following her celebration of life.

Linda loved all games whether it was barefoot golf, pull tabs, one arm bandits, Candy Crush, WORDLE, or cards. Let it be known the woman did not like to lose! Grandkids and newcomers were given a lesson not just in the rules (sometimes changing) of whatever game we were playing, but also a lesson in colorful phrases ( ”Oh Fer Funny” may be the only one allowed to be printed here). And be sure, if there was a way to turn a game into a wager, she would figure it out and unintentionally would give a little snort when pulling in the winnings.

Whether it was keeping up on the grandkids or the Vikings, she was a loyal sports fan. If the Vikings were on TV there was a bottle of Tequila Rose nearby for a shot with every score. When she had a chance to watch any of the grandkids play, everyone in the stands knew who she was cheering on. She was a very proud grandma whether it was a sports competition, movie competition, or scholastic achievement.

Join us to celebrate Linda at 1:30 PM Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Baker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial following at Bruflat Cemetery with a reception Linda would love at Island Park Shelter starting at 4 pm.
