LinDa Mae Bergstrom

   LinDa Mae (Thompson) Bergstrom died on November 29, 2021 at the age of 77. LinDa passed away suddenly, on her birthday from complications resulting from her battle with cancer. She passed away in McAllen, TX surrounded by her family.

   LinDa was born in Mayville, ND on November 29, 1944. She was born to Franklin and Evelyn (Burkholder) Thompson. She was the 2nd of 5 daughters. The family resided on a farm Clifford, ND and Linda attended School in Hope, ND graduating in 1962 as valedictorian. While attending high school, she met the love of her life, Gary Bergstrom. They were married on August 21, 1964. She attended St Luke's Nursing college, in Fargo ND graduating in 1964. After a year as newlyweds they moved to Denver, CO. While in Denver LinDa worked at the Swedish Hospital as an RN. LinDa continued to pursue her life passion as a registered Nurse by continuing her education, at Denver University with a double major. LinDa and Gary lived in Colorado for 10 years before moving back to North Dakota to take over the family farm.  Once back in ND she found her true calling to Hospice. While working for Hospice of the Red River Valley, she touched many lives, held many hands and comforted many hearts. Even after 'retiring' she continued to be everyone’s medical soundboard and nurse and advisor for all her loved ones and friends.

   LinDa was very active in her family and community. She had many hobbies and interest, a true renaissance women, including: involvement in church counsil, Luthern church circle, Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school teacher, school board president. Cooking, baking, cake decorating, caning, gardening, upolstery, belly dancing, aerobics instructor, ballet, tap and jazz teacher, seamstress (including prom dresses and wedding alterations), cross stitch, quilting, macrame, card making, calligraphy, pilot, genealogy, and master puzzler. With all of LinDa's interested, her most important one was being a mom and Nana. She never missed a ball game, a birthday, any event. Her children and grandchildren were her world.

   Upon retirement LinDa and Gary became winter Texans and she brought many of her interest and hobbies with her to share with her retirement community friends in Alamo Rose RV Park. She enjoyed all her time down in TX, being with her friends and family.

   LinDa is survived by her husband: Gary, Finley, ND; sons: Tor (Karen) Bergstrom, Finley, ND and Kyl (Amy) Bergstrom, Platte City, MO; daughters: Taasha (Travis) Zerface, West Fargo, ND and Katrina (Josh) Blikre, Bismarck, ND; grandchildren: Zak (Mickenzie) Bergstrom, Tessa (Levi) Geffre, Dacotah (Ben) Wiertzema, Abigail Bergstrom, Allison Bergstrom, Alexa Bergstrom, Tran Zerface, Tiara Zerface, Tova Blikre, Rune Blikre; greatgrandchildren: Piper Bergstrom & Oliver Wiertzema; sisters: Bonnie Norton, Gary Lund, Lynette (Steve) Pruitt and Suzan (Scott) Bosard; sisters-in-law: Marcia Mitzel, Nancy (Mike) Kianz and Jan Bergstrom; and multiple nieces and nephews.

   Preceded in death by her parents; sister: Mary Lund and many other extended family that will welcome her to the gates of heaven.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Visitation:  Will be 5–7 PM on Friday, May 27, 2022 with a 7:00 PM Public Prayer Service followed by a Masonic Service at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the Aurdal Lutheran Church in Portland, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Finley Cemetery in Finley, ND.
