Kenneth "Kenny" Domier

October 9, 1940 — April 22, 2024

Portland

Kenneth Arden Domier, 83 passed peacefully on April 22, 2024 in the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and the staff at Hillsboro Sanford Care Center after a 4 year battle with cancer.

Kenny was born on October 9, 1940 to Arthur and Clara Domier in Portland ND on the family farm. Kenny spent all of his years on the family farm outside of Portland where one thing was always the main focus, growing crops and being with family.

Farming wasn’t just a way of life, but it was the life blood of this multi-generational farm. The passion for farm life was passed down to Kenny from his father and his grandfather and Kenny passed this down to the next generations. Kenny was a true example of the great American farmer, a steward of the land.

In 1959, Kenny met the love of his life, Rosalyn Hanson, at the roller-skating rink in Hatton ND. As they say, the rest is history. They married on June 30, 1963, and created a life on the family farm where they welcome two sons: Kory Rendell and Ryan Kent. As devoted parents, they supported their sons as they each chose their own path in life, including providing them with 5 grandchildren which he loved big, fully and completely.

Being a grandparent came naturally to Kenny and throughout the years he offered the grandchildren a sense of history, heritage, and identity as he provided them with a vital connection to the past which helped to shape each of their futures. Kenny & Rosie passed on important family traditions along with building new ones and Kenny provided life stories that each grandchild not only enjoyed when they were young, but now appreciated even more as they grow older and understood their true meaning. Kenny took on the trying task of teaching all his grandchildren to drive and fueled the ongoing competition of the grandchildren to have the title of “favorite grandchild” – the grandchildren were always sure the each of them were the favorite.

Kenny faithfully served his family, friends, church, and neighbors with a servant’s heart. His life and teachings showed us how important it is to lead with love, compassion, and devotion. Kenny’s everlasting love and generosity will be deeply missed.

Kenny is survived by his loving wife: Rosie; son: Kory Domier of Portland, ND and daughter-in-law: Mandi Domier of Portland ND; grandchildren: Ross (McKenzie) Domier, Kolby Domier, Kinsey (Hunter Reimer) Domier, Jaxon Hoffmeyer, and Addison Domier; sister-in-law: Renae Vareberg and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his son: Ryan Domier; parents: Arthur & Clara Domier; sister: Arlene (Keith) Nelson; in-laws: Kenneth & Gladys Hanson, Ronald Hanson, Raymond Hanson, Romaine Hanson.
