Kenneth Amundson

December 22, 1961 — February 18, 2020

   Kenneth Amundson, 58, of Portland, ND, died Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

   Kenneth Amundson was born the son of Rodger and Esther (Peterson) Amundson on December 22, 1961 at Mayville Union Hospital. He grew up and attended school in rural Hatton and Mayville. He served in the Army in the 1980’s.

   He was united in marriage to Doreen Melfald on September 12, 1986 in Hillsboro, ND. They lived in Northwood, ND for a few years where Kenneth worked for, Brad Meldahl on a farm. They moved to Mayville, ND where Kenneth worked for the Mayville Elevator. They moved to Portland, ND and Kenneth worked for Paulson Gravel, Strand Ready Mix and Brett Neset Repairs. Kenneth owned his own service station, KDK Service which was the initials for his family. Kenneth was currently employed by Grand Forks County Highway Department for sixteen years.

   Kenneth enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, hunting, grilling, spending time with his wife and daughter, working on vehicles, fixing up his home, building buildings, and welding.

   He is survived by his wife: Doreen Amundson; daughter: Kristine (Richard) Fastner of Portland; two brothers: Bradley (Renee) Amundson of Oakes, ND and Keith (Renee) Amundson of Northwood, ND; two aunts; one uncle; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

   He was preceded in death by his parents: Rodger and Esther Amundson; two brothers: Duane and Harold Amundson.

Visitation: Will be 5–7 PM on Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the Valley Free Lutheran Church in Portland, ND.

Military Honors: May~Port Honor Guard and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors.

Burial: Will be in the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
