Joseph Darrin Betts, 28, of Grand Forks, ND, died Saturday, April 22, 2018 at his home in Grand Forks, ND. Joseph was born in Tucson, AZ on August 14, 1989 to Adele (Kujava) Aasen and Mark Betts and was met by his big brother Jacob. Joey grew up in Grand Forks, ND and attended J. Nelson Kelly Elementary School, Schroeder Middle School, Red River High School and graduated from Community High School with honors in 2007. Joey worked several different jobs, including Wal Mart, fast food and as a clerk at Holiday Gas station. He lived in Fargo for a year and returned to Grand Forks. Joey enjoyed reading and loved every kind of music. He enjoyed cooking and was good at it; just not the clean up. He was a talented artist but never pursued it. The best times of his life were spent with his son, Mason and Lexi who he considered a daughter. He is survived by his mother: Adele (Todd) Aasen of Hillsboro, ND; father: Mark (Laurie) Betts of East Grand Forks, MN; son: Mason of Grand Forks, ND; brother: Jacob of Hillsboro; four sisters: Ashley, Jessica, Jennah and Julia all of East Grand Forks, MN; grandparents: Marvin and Beth Betts of Prescott, AZ; aunts and uncles: Peter Kujava of Warroad, MN, Roger Kujava of Hawley, MN, Betty (Dave) Conely of Warren, MN, Daniel (Dee) Kujava of Newfolden, MN, Gorden (Colette) Kujava of Newfolden, MN, Sue (Duane) Armstrong of Devils Lake, ND, Keith (Barb) Aasen of Bismarck, ND, Daniel (Amy) Aasen of Fargo, ND and many cousins. Joey is preceded in death by his brother: Ryan Aasen; grandparents: Harry and Dolores Kujava and Wayne and Karolyn Aasen; aunt: Terrie Kujava and uncles: Darren Betts and Jeff Aasen. Visitation: Will be 5–7 PM with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Baker Funeral Home in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Friday, April 27, 2018 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, ND. Burial: Will be at 1:30 PM Friday in the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
