Ilene Kyllo

   Ilene Marie (Hochgraber) Kyllo 86, passed away on May 5th, 2024 with her family by her side under the compassionate care of Eventide Sheyenne Crossing in West Fargo, ND.

   Ilene was born to Alfred and Marian (Larson) Hochgraber on March 15th, 1938 in Galesburg, ND. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Elm River Lutheran Church, also in Galesburg. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1956.

   Ilene married Ron Kyllo of Mayville, ND on November 17th, 1957. Together they raised 6 children on the family farm before retiring in 2002 and moving into Galesburg.

   Ilene enjoyed gardening, quilting, baking and music (especially hymns) but her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a selfless, hardworking woman and spent much of her time beside Ron in the field. She always had a hot meal for everyone morning, noon and night. The “fruit room” was always full of canned goods which were a result of the love and devotion she put into her beautiful garden. Ilene was also known for her brown bread, making many loaves over the years much to the delight of her family and friends. Sewing was one of her many talents making outfits for her children and quilts for her grandchildren. They will be able to wrap themselves in her creations and feel her love for years to come. Ilene was always perfectly dressed with her fingernails painted and hair styled just right. She was known for her kind and gentle heart and will be very missed by all.

   She is survived by sons: Karry (Pam) East Grand Forks, MN, Kelly (Kay) Grandin, ND, Korey (Amy) West Fargo, ND and Kirby (Angie) West Fargo, ND and daughters: Suzanne (Frank) Schlauderaff, Hankinson, ND and Denora (Darwin) Haugaard, Hope, ND; 24 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters: Judy (Corliss) Fritz, Galesburg, ND, LaVonne (Roy) Rud, Buffalo, MN, Anita (Paul) Baglien, LaCrosse Saskatchewan and Janice (Ron) Pickar, Bismarck, ND; sisters-in-law: Darlene Rensvold, Bonita (Gary) Erickson both of Fargo, ND and Francis Kyllo of Bismarck, ND.

   She is preceded in death by her husband: Ronald; parents: Alfred and Marian; granddaughter: Megan Kyllo; mother and father-in-law: Edwin and Bernice (Nelson) Kyllo; brother and sister-in-law: Harvey and Sylvia Kyllo and brothers-in-law: Howard Rensvold and Bernie Kyllo.

   The family would like to thank the staff of Eventide Sheyenne Crossing for their years of unwavering dedication and love given to our mother and also Ethos Hospice for their time and devoted care in mom’s final days.

Visitation:  Will be 5–7 PM on Friday, May 10, 2024 with a 6:30 PM Public Prayer Service at the Elm River Lutheran Church in Galesburg, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Elm River Lutheran Church in Galesburg, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Stordahl Cemetery in Galesburg, ND.
