Helen Olivia Sharpe (97) of Portland, ND died January 11, 2023 at Luther Memorial Home.
Helen was born August 22, 1925 in Mayville, ND to Oscar and Hilda (Langager) Gotteberg. She graduated from Mayville High School and attended Mayville State College for two years. In 1945 she married Douglas Sharpe and moved across the river to Portland where they raised their three children.
Helen worked at the Portland Farmers Union Creamery, the Portland Produce, the Portland Credit Union, the Johnson Store, the Farmers Union Oil Company and First and Farmers Bank. She was an active member of Bruflat Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School. She taught baton twirling class and was a Cub Scout and 4H leader. She loved bowling, playing cards, and Bingo. She was active in the Sons of Norway, VFW Auxiliary, and the Portland Golden Age Club.
She is survived by her daughters: Laura (Ken) Norby, Pembina, ND and Karen Hamre, Devils Lake, ND; daughter-in-law: Karen Sharpe, Fargo ND; grandchildren: Shannon (Donovan) Dettling, Brian Sharpe, Matthew Sharpe, Michael (Fallon) Norby, Allison (Tyson) Lutman, Ashley (Josh) DeMarais and Kimberly Norby; great-grandchildren: Trevor and Jacob Dettling, Camden, Caleb and Claire DeMarais, Veda Blank, Bodee, and Naavi Norby. She is also survived by her sister: Edith Ingebretson and sister-in-law: Lorraine Gotteberg.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband; her son: Howard Sharpe; sisters: Ruth Howard, Ida Edberg, Alice Eiken and brothers: John Gotteberg and Ray Gotteberg.

Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Service: Will be held at11:00 AM Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND.
Burial: Will be in the Bruflat Cemetery in Portland, ND.
