Floyd Wayne Aune

   Floyd Wayne Aune, 82, of Mayville, ND, died Monday, December 14, 2020 at the Sanford Medical Center Fargo, ND.

   Floyd was born May 9, 1938 at the family farm in Fairdale, ND to Edward and Wilma (Berntson) Aune. He graduated from Fairdale High School in 1956 and NDSU in 1964 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science.

   Floyd served two years in the United States Army as a Signal Corps photographer from 1961-1963.

   He married Elaine M. Starr in Newport, MI on November 17, 1962. Floyd was a livestock feed salesman for Gold Label Feeds for six years and thirty years for Cenex Harvest States. He also worked for Bakkum Farms for several years and also drove bus for MPCG schools for many years.

   He was active in his community and state which included: President of MayPort Jaycees, State Vice President of North Dakota Jaycees, MayPort School board member and President, 4-H leader for 15 years, cub scout leader, American Legion member of Post #8 in Mayville; having served as Commander, also District Vice-Commander, District Commander and State Vice Commander of North Dakota American Legion, member of Mayville Lutheran Church, Goose River Masonic Lodge #19, Kem Shriners and Keystone Kops.

   Floyd was an avid sports fan following his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren when they competed.  He also followed MPCG school sports, Mayville State University, North Dakota State University, Minnesota Vikings, Twins, and Timberwolves. 

   Floyd is survived by his wife Elaine; Children Brian (Shelly) Aune, Mayville, ND; Bradley (Brandi) Aune, Fargo ND; Brenda (Matthew) Balken, Rothsay MN; and Becky (Jason) Johnson, Sharon ND.  Grandchildren; Kayla (Dave) Smith, Ashley (Tyler) Pawlowski, Tiffany (Matt) Cordell, Heather (Dana) Larson, Kyle Aune, Alyssa Aune (Dikwan), Hunter Gorden, Cody Wise, Carly (Brady) Thorson, Drew Balken, and Casey Willison (Sydney). Great grandchildren; Blaine, Mason & Paige Smith; Jayce & Alivia Pawlowski; Brooke Cordell; Blayke & Brynn Larson; Phoenix McKinzie and Raelyn Thorson.

Siblings: Lorraine Aune, Pearl Aune and Orville (Judy) Aune; in-laws Edwin Stone, and Joan & Mike LaMarsh and many nieces and nephews.

   Preceding him in death were his parents; in infancy Orville and Jesse, two brothers Walter Aune and Melvin Aune, two sisters Elda Watt and Laverne Stone and in laws Paul Aune, Ronald Watt, Betty & Bob Stewart.

Masks are required.

Visitation:  Will be 5–7 PM on Thursday, December 17, 2020 with a 7 PM Masonic Service by the Goose River Lodge #19 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, December 18, 2020 at the Mayville Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND. A celebration of Floyd’s life will be held at a future date due to the COVID limited attendance regulations.

Military Honors: May~Port Honor Guard and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors.

Burial: Will be in Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
