 Emma Lillico Dakken Thykeson, 91 died Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

 Emma was born on March 9, 1933 in Leroy, ND to Elmer and Laura (St. Arnaud) Lillico. She was educated in Gilby-Johnstown, ND. Emma worked at Luther Memorial Home for over 20 years. 

 Emma married Kenneth Dakken in 1952. Together they had two children Annette and Kenneth Mark. Kenneth died in 1969. Through the years Emma worked in various retail stores. After Kenneth’s passing, she managed the office for Bradshaw Ready Mix in Mayville, ND. In 1972 Emma and Dennis Thykeson were married. They lived and farmed in rural Portland until 1993 when they moved to Mayville. They had a son, Chad. Dennis died in 2005. After her retirement from Luther Memorial Home Emma worked part time as a grandma with the childcare program at Mayville State University. Emma loved working with the children and made wonderful memories and friendships during that time. Emma resided in the family home until she moved to Luther Memorial Home in 2018.

 Emma is survived by her daughter: Annette Plumb of Arvada, CO; her sons: Mark Dakken of Orange City, IA and Chad (Kayla) Thykeson of West Fargo, ND; 5 grandchildren: Kenneth (Carissa) Plumb, Casey Plumb, Jacob Plumb, Krista Dakken and Ali Thykeson and 4 great grandchildren: Alex Plumb, Makayle Plumb, Alana Plumb and Madelyn Stancil.

 Emma was preceded in death by her husbands; granddaughter: Victoria Dakken; 1 brother and 3 sisters.

Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the Bang Lutheran Church in Portland, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Bang Cemetery in Portland, ND.
