Diane E. Asheim

   Diane Eileen Asheim, 70, of Portland, ND died Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at her home in Portland, ND.    Diane was born January 5, 1948 to Louis and Clara (Overland) Rodne in Harvey, ND and lived just outside in Heimdal on the farm.  Her family moved to Eastern North Dakota and eventually settled in Mayville when she was ten years old. She graduated from Mayville High School in 1966.    Diane met Vernon Asheim while working at Uptown Cafe in Grand Forks ND in 1967. They were married on May 4, 1968 at Ebenezer Lutheran Brethren Church in Mayville and settled immediately in Hillsboro for the next couple of years as they prepared to launch their own Plumbing business.      Diane and Vernon moved to Mayville in 1970 when they purchased Mayville Plumbing and later in 1977 they moved west of Portland to the house that they built. Diane and Vernon owned Mayville Plumbing for 43 years where she spent time as the primary book keeper and office administrator.     Diane loved God, her husband, her family and friends fiercely. She was constantly involved in various roles at her church, Ebenezer, even serving as treasurer for the women’s ministry when she passed away. She loved tending her many flowers and plants at her home, helping out friends whenever she could, and being around her family.    Diane is survived by her husband: Vernon; son: Wesley (Anya); grandsons: Jacob and Thaddeus; sister: Carol (Clyde) Soderberg; brother-in-law: Bernell (Marilyn) Asheim; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.    She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Clara Rodne.      In lieu of flowers please direct memorials to Inspiration Point Christian Camp and Retreat Center located at 1030 Alcott Avenue W Fergus Falls, MN 56537 or give online at https://ipoint.org/give Visitation:  Will be 5–7 PM with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service on Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND. Burial: Will be at the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
