David Morris Mehus

David passed away on August 8, 2026 at HIA Hospice Fargo, ND after courageous battle with cancer. Wife Andrea was by his side.

David Morris Mehus was born July 16, 1964 to Morris and Alphild (Anderson) Mehus at Union Hospital in Mayville, ND. David attended and graduated from Finley Sharon School in 1982. In school David was active in FFA and Band. In 1972 the family moved from the farm into Finley. David moved back out to the family farm in 1980. He attended Mayville State University for business administration. David together with his father Morris; brother Jon and cousin Bob all ranched and farmed.

On September 23, 1996 he married Karla Christensen. Together they had two: children Joshua and Nicole. David worked at John Deere in Valley City during the winter, here he met the love of his life Andrea Krogen.

David married his soul mate, Andrea on July 13, 2013. They continued to live on the family farm with Josh and Nicole. In April 2015 another boy was brought into the Mehus family: Ryan Moen “Blue”.

David was active on several boards including Steele-Traill County Mutual Insurance, Sherbrooke Township board, Finley Fire District, along with the Ostervold Lutheran Church Council. In 2020 he went to work at Paulson gravel. The joy of his life came with the birth of two grandson’s: Axel and Easton.

David is survived by wife: Andrea; son’s Joshua Mehus and Ryan (Erika) Moen daughter: Nicole (Andrew Bye) Mehus; grandson’s: Axel and Easton Mehus; brother: Jon (LaNette) Mehus.

He is preceded in death by parents Morris and Alphild; a brother and sister, both in infancy and cousin: Bob Mehus.

Visitation: Will be Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 5-7PM with a 6:30PM prayer service at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, August 13, 2026 at the Finley Lutheran Church in Finley, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Finley Cemetery in Finley, ND.
