David L Hunt

November 16, 1943 — March 23, 2026

Reynolds, North Dakota

David Lawrence Hunt passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks North Dakota on March 23, 2026.

David was born on November 16, 1943, in Clinton Missouri, the son of Charles J. Hunt and Mary Elizabeth (Hickman) Hunt.

David was a very large man, not only in stature but also in conviction. He was steadfast in his love of his God, his country, and his family. He was slow to anger and always had a kind word for those he encountered.

After graduating high school, David enlisted in the United States Air Force in June of 1961. He served his country for twenty years until he retired as an E7 Master Sergeant in August of 1981 moving the family back to Clinton, MO. His service took him many places including a tour overseas as well as all over the southwest United States. While attending a technical school in Denver, Colorado he met Faye (Stephens) Hunt, and the two were married October 22, 1965.

Together they created a very loving home for each other and their six children. They fiercely supported one another, doing whatever it took to provide for each other and their family. They were rarely apart for the entirety of their 60-year marriage and then only for as long as necessary, as evidenced by their passing only eighty-seven days apart.

Throughout his life, David continually found ways to serve his family, church, and community. He found great joy taking his family fishing and camping. He was a dedicated leader for his children’s Boy Scout Troop. Spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren was something he cherished. David could visit with anyone he met and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. We find comfort in the cherished memories and profound impact he made in our lives.

David is survived by: five children Debra (Daniel) Mills, West Valley City, UT, Stephen (Shannon) Hunt, Reynolds, ND, Benjamin (Kelly) Hunt, Grantsville, UT, Charles (Melanie) Hunt, Buxton, ND, Daniel (Slade) Hunt, Taylorsville, UT, sister Elizabeth (Ernie) Elkins; fourteen grandchildren: Amanda (Andrew) Velasco, Cory (Chyanne) Mills, Cassidy (Christian) Haroldsen, Garrett Mills, Nicole (Trevor) Levenseller, Kaylee (Forrest) Derosier, Wilson Hunt, Jordan Hunt, Sarah Hunt, Tanner (Summer) Hunt, Tristen Hunt, Teagan Hunt, Jayden Hunt, Morgan Hunt; five great grandchildren: Maci Levenseller, Colt Levenseller, Henry Derosier, Violet Haroldsen, Graham Haroldsen.
