Darrell Richard Stormoe, 80, of Hatton, ND died Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND.
Darrell was born in Northwood, ND on September 25, 1943 to Kenneth and Inga (nee Enstad) Stormoe. He grew up in Hatton, ND, and graduated from Hatton High School in 1961. After high school, he worked at his family farm for three years before joining the Marine Corps in 1964.
Darrell married his wife, Sharon Kay Stormoe (nee Holmen) on May 31, 1964 at Bethany Lutheran Church. Darrell was a Marine until 1968, serving one tour in Vietnam and the rest in California. Upon returning from California in 1968, Darrell took over the family farm in Hatton, ND.
Darrell served his community in several ways. He was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he served on the cemetery board. He served on the Garfield Township Board for decades. Darrell was a member of the Carrol O. Flesche Post 70 of the American Legion for over 50 years. He also served on various elevator boards and other boards in the Hatton, ND area. Darrell loved farming, driving around looking at his land, and watching crops grow.
Darrell is survived by his wife of sixty years, Sharon; two sons: Jason (Shelle) of Little Rock, AR, Jared (Rachel) and two grandchildren: Liam and Aurora all of Bemidji, MN. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Jeannie Stormoe of Scotts Bluff, NE and Vicky Sunderland of Fargo, ND.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents: Kenneth and Inga; as well as his twin brother: Dennis Stormoe and older brother: Donnie Stormoe.
Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Service: Will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 27, 2024 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton, ND.
Military Honors: Carrol O. Flesche Post 70 and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors.
Burial: Will be in the St. John Cemetery in Hatton, ND.
