Cyndia "Cyndy" Moen

July 10, 1949 — May 1, 2021

Cyndia (Ballinger) Moen, formally known as Cyndy Stroble, 71, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2021 at home under the care of family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Cyndy was born on July 10, 1949 in Independence, MO to Kenneth and Verlene (Bowman) Ballinger. She attended school in Kansas City, MO and Leavenworth, KS and graduated from Leavenworth, KS in 1967.

In 1975, Cyndy with her first husband Bernie and daughter Rebecca traveled North and began what would be the rest of her days in North Dakota.  In 1976, son Lee joined this union. A third child, Jennifer, joined her two older siblings in 1989 by her second husband, Smokey.

Cyndy spent much of the 1980’s working at Paula’s Café in Mayville where she made many memories and dear friends. After Jennifer was born in 1989, she worked at various food industries, including Marriott for Mayville State, and the Elementary and High School, before making the switch to janitorial which she also did for Mayville State, and lastly at Luther Memorial Home before retirement.

When not at work, Cyndy was a very active grandma, avid gardener (with the ability to grow and keep anything alive), reader, history and horror movie buff, storyteller, animal lover, seamstress, basically-you name it-she could do it. Her quick wit and stubborn nature not only were part of her charm, but also reflected well on her overall perseverance as a human being. Above all else, she was a selfless mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her children: Rebecca (Robert) Rodgers of Leavenworth, KS, Lee Stroble of Portland, ND and Jennifer Almanza of Portland, ND.  She also leaves behind brothers: Patrick in California and Wayne of Leavenworth, KS along with sisters: Karla and Delta, both of Leavenworth, KS.  She was blessed with eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandmother: Florence Bowman.

A very special thanks on behalf of Cyndy and her family is extended to Sanford Hillsboro, Roger Marris in Fargo, Hospice of the Red River Valley and especially her special friend, Andrea Brend.

Masks are required.

Visitation:  Will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND.
