Chester "Chet" Hedstrom

December 9, 1926 — October 9, 2020

   Chester A. Hedstrom, 93, of Mayville, ND, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville.

   Chester was born December 9, 1926 in Aneta, ND, the son of Fred and Louise (Moderow) Hedstrom. He attended school in Aneta, ND. Following high school Chester was drafted into the Army. He served from 1945 - 1947.

   After he returned from the service, he married Delores Fjeld in 1950.

While employed by Schultz & Lindsay Construction Co, Chester and Delores lived in Casselton, ND, moving to Billings, MT in 1970. In 1976 Chester and Delores moved to Mayville, ND, opening a Hardware Hank store. Chester retired in 1994.

   Chester was a member of Toastmasters International for several years, winning many speaking competitions. He was active in the Mayville community; serving on the hospital board, as President of the Mayville Golf Club, President of the Community Club, President of Mayville improvement and served on the board of Mayville housing and zoning improvement.

Chester was an avid golfer and loved following the Mayville College and high school basketball, football, and baseball teams.

   Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife: Delores; children: Sandra (Richard) Knight of Bloomington, MN, Cynthia (David) Channel of Forsyth, MT, Jeffrey (DelRae) Hedstrom of Minot, ND, Kari (Kirk) Kappes of Fargo, ND; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

   Preceding him in death are his parents; granddaughter: Colleen Lundequam; siblings: Clarence, Lester, Evelyn Stouffer and Mildred Conerton.

   Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.

Masks are required.

Visitation:  Will be 5–7 PM on Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND.

Military Honors: May~Port Honor Guard and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors.

Burial: Will be in Our Savior Cemetery in Kloten, ND.
