Barbara E. Hettervig

Barbara Hettervig, 89 of Mayville, ND, formerly of Buxton, ND died Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND.

   She was born on January 9, 1932 in Herberg Township, rural Hillsboro, ND the daughter of Frank and Irene (Coulter) Baxter.  She graduated high school in Hillsboro, ND. 

   On June 26, 1951 she married Ernest M. B. Hettervig at the United Parish Church in Hillsboro, ND. The couple resided on the Hettervig farm and farmed and ranched until 1985. They moved into Mayville in 2009.

   Barbara was a member of the Highland Lutheran Church and served as a Sunday School teacher. She was a 4H leader for a number of years, enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. 

   She is survived by three daughters: Joyce Gilbertson of Crookston, MN, Emogean (Terrence) Sundeen of Green River, WY and Nancy (Allan) Allrich of Mahnomen, MN; five grandchildren: Joshua Gilbertson, Benjamin Allrich, Trent Sundeen, Christopher Hettervig and Casey Hettervig; four great-grandchildren: Parker and Kenleigh Allrich, Hudson Gilbertson and Clayton Hettervig; two step great grandchildren: Lexie and Bennie VanDyk and one sister: Frances Goodrich of Bellview, WA.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandparents, a step father: Henry Hettervig and one son, Martin, and brother Donald Hettervig.

Masks are required.

Visitation:  Will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: Will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Highland Lutheran Church in rural Cummings, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Highland Cemetery in rural Cummings, ND.
