Arden H Rux

Arden Hans Rux 62, of Portland ND passed away at his home on Saturday April 18, 2026.

Arden was the oldest of four children born to Arden Truman Rux and Marlys (Stenstad) Rux on September 12, 1963, in Mayville ND.

Arden attended Hatton High School graduating in 1982. He worked at the Hatton Grocery after high school, then Berger & Company, and Brandon garbage services. Then he moved to Portland where he started working for the City of Mayville Garbage Services. At his time of passing, he worked for Farmers Union Oil of Portland as a Bulk Truck Driver.

On December 14, 1996, he married Shirley (Ingebretson) Palm at the Mayville Lutheran Church. Arden agreed to the package deal with Shirley’s two sons, Cory and Brandon, with this marriage. They made their home in Portland. He loved being with the kids, family and friends, especially during the holidays.

Arden loved his animals. He has rescued several community cats from starvation and freezing to death. He couldn’t stand to see any animal suffer. Arden & Shirley have fixed about 18 cats in the neighborhood. All the cats were spay/neutered at Minn-Kota Paaws in Fargo.

He is survived by his wife: Shirley; children: Cory (Stacy) Palm of Bismarck and Brandon (Kaylee) Palm of Portland; grandchildren: Bayleigh, Jayden, Olyvia, Caitlyn, Paisley and Hendrix; great granddaughter: Willow and soon to be Baby Girl Perry; surviving siblings include: John Rux of Lake Havasu, Bonnie (Paul) Enger of Portland, Marlene Taylor of Hatton; aunts: Arlene Braaten of Minneapolis, Joy Ust of Hatton and Saundra Norman from West Virginia and several nieces and nephews.

Arden was preceded in death by his grandparents: Arther R. Rux and Tillie (Rux) Brovold and several aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Minn-Kota Paaws in Fargo or Circle of Friends in Grand Forks.

Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Saturday, April 25, 2026 at the Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND.

Burial: Will be in the Bruflat Cemetery in Portland, ND.
