Albert Junior Nelson

April 23, 1928 — September 27, 2025

Hatton, ND

Albert Junior Nelson, 97, of Hatton, ND, went home to be with the Lord on September 27, 2025. Albert was born on April 23, 1928, on his family homestead in Steele County to Albert and Martha Nelson.

A faithful servant of God, Albert lived a life rooted in faith, love, and hard work. On June 18, 1955, he married Shirley Grace Reynolds at Norman Lutheran Church in Clifford, ND. Together they made their home on Albert’s family farm where they raised their three children: David, Dana and Nadine. Albert was a dedicated and hardworking farmer, laboring from sunup to sundown with quiet determination and strength. Even after moving off the farm to Portland, ND, he continued to work the land alongside his son, Dana. His love for farming was matched only by his love for his family.

He was a devoted and involved husband, father, and grandfather who loved to share the wonders of farming, nature and the simple joys of family life. He will also be remembered as a kind friend and a good neighbor to many.

Albert was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton, ND, and remained strong in his Christian faith throughout his life. His faith was his foundation, and his life reflected Christ's love in word and deed.

Albert is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Shirley; his children: David Nelson of Fargo, ND, Dana (Laura) Nelson of Portland, ND and Nadine Rebsch (the late Charles Rebsch) of Fargo, ND; his grandchildren: Jessica Semrau (Barry Hakim), Justin Nelson (Sharla Bye), Amy (James) Ritchie, and Cara (Lewis) Chapdelaine; his great-grandchildren: Taylor and McKenzie Semrau, Cadyn Nelson, Charles and Albert Ritchie and Evelyn Chapdelaine; and his great-great-grandson: Grayson Semrau. He is also survived by his brother: Don (Diane) Nelson; his sister: Lucille Rehak and many loved nieces and nephews.

Albert is now reunited in Heaven with his two infant daughters, his parents, Albert and Martha Nelson; his siblings: Adrian Nelson, Anna Marie Twenge, Delores Bjerke and Marjorie Thompson; his mother and father in law: Robert and Mina Reynolds; his brother-in-law: Bob Reynolds and his son-in-law: Charles Rebsch.

A celebration of Albert’s life and faith will be held at St. John Lutheran Church on Friday, October 3rd, 2025. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Hatton Prairie Village for their loving care and support. "Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
