Pearl E. Eastvold Pearl E. Eastvold, 88, of Sheridan, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2007, at her daughter and son-in-law’s home. Pearl was born on February 8, 1919 in Mayville, ND to Oscar and Tilla Strom. She grew up in Mayville and graduated from Mayville High School in 1936. She worked as a waitress, housekeeper, and nanny for the next three years. She very much wanted to be a nurse but due to the depression the opportunity to go to nursing school wasn’t available. She married Alvin K. Eastvold on December 15, 1939 at Mayville Lutheran Church and the couple raised a son and daughter. They farmed until his retirement and lived on the farm until 1997 at which time they moved to Sheridan, due to failing health, to live with their daughter and son-in-law. They returned to spend time on the farm each summer for the next 7 years. Pearl was a devout Christian and was very active in her church, serving on the church council, president of the Ladies Aide, chairman of the annual fall dinners, and Sunday school teacher. Pearl was known for her belief in prayer and was known by family and friends as their "prayer warrior". She loved her family very much and always supported them in the good times and bad. Pearl took much pride in their achievements. She loved the farm, baking, cooking, and entertaining. She was a beautiful hostess and had many sit down dinners for family and friends. She also prepared many meals for the harvest crews. Pearl always welcomed family, neighbors, friends, and strangers at coffee time for homemade goodies. She sewed, crocheted, embroidered, and wrote children’s stories. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin; her son, Darryl; her brother, Oral Strom; and her sister, Roselyn Aronoff. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Otteson and her husband Doug of Sheridan; her brother, Wallace Strom of Windsor, CO; her sisters, Hazel Potter of Marysville, WA and Ione Golden of Friendship, NY; her six grandchildren, Jason and Angel Eastvold, Robyn, Heather, and Hope Otteson, and Erica Eastvold Burt; her five great-grandchildren, Madison, Leyken, and Kadin Eastvold and Jerod and Mason Burt; and her numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials in Pearl’s name be made to the Mayville Lutheran Church "Legacy For Ministry", 24 3rd Avenue SE, Mayville, ND 58257or to Hospice of the Big Horns, 1401 W. 5th, Sheridan, WY 82801. Funeral services will be held at on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Mayville Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the Mayville Cemetery. Local arrangements are with Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, ND, and Kane Funeral Home is handling arrangements in Wyoming.
