Evelyn M. Bohnsack

Evelyn Sletten Bohnsack, age 92, a long time Mayville resident, died March 2, 2007 at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville , North Dakota. Evelyn Margit Sletten, was born to Rose and Albert Sletten on January 31, 1915 in Hannaford, North Dakota. She graduated from Hannaford High School and attended the Sisters of Mercy Nursing School in Valley City, North Dakota where she completed the course of study to become a registered nurse in 1936. Together with her twin sister, Ethelyn, she worked as a private duty nurse in the Valley City area before marrying her husband of 67 years, Earl Bohnsack, on February 18,1940. A daughter, Carol, was born on January 14, 1943 and a son, William, was born on July31,1946. Evelyn and Earl lived in Bismarck and Fargo for several years before moving to Mayville in 1947. The couple purchased the Mayville Drug Store and owned and operated Mayville Pharmacy until retiring in the mid 1970’s. Evelyn was an avid golfer enjoying many early morning rounds of golf and tournaments in the Mayville area. She looked forward with enthusiasm to regular Saturday afternoon get-togethers with her friends for many years. She was a long time member of Mayville Lutheran Church. She is survived by her two children, Carol Bohnsack of Oakland, CA and William ( Shirley) Bohnsack of Mayville; four grandchildren, Michael, Anne, Amy and Mathew, her two sisters- Ethelyn McKay, Valley City, ND and Audrey Beck, Apache Wells, AZ and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl on Sept.1, 2005, and her two brothers, Orville and Bernard (Bud). FUNERAL SERVICE: Friday, March 9, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Mayville Lutheran Church, Mayville, ND. VISITATION: Thursday, March 8, from 4-7 pm at Baker Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. BURIAL: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
