Eloise Arlene Leum

September 16, 1926 — December 15, 2006

Eloise Leum, 80, of Mayville, ND, died Friday, December 15, 2006 at the Union Hospital in Mayville, after a long battle with osteoporosis and recent cancer. She was born on September 16, 1926, the daughter of Olaf “Pete” and Ida (Holkesvig) Nelson near Portland, ND. Eloise attended country school in rural Portland and graduated from high school in Mayville. She later moved to Fargo, ND, graduating from Interstate Business College and started working for Pioneer Mutual Insurance. On October 3, 1949, she married Harry Leum. After their marriage, the couple lived and farmed in Wold Township, rural Mayville, and raised three children; David, Don and Linda. In August of 2006, Eloise and Harry moved to the Suncenter apartments in Mayville. Eloise was a member of Gran Lutheran Church of rural Mayville. She will be remembered for spending her life helping others. She loved to travel with her husband throughout most of the United States. She is survived by her husband: Harry of Mayville; two sons: David and Don both of Cummings, ND; one daughter: Linda of Seattle, WA, her husband Mike Nolan and his son, Shamus. She is also survived by one brother: Duane (Bonnie) Nelson of Portland and two sisters: Lorraine (Bob) Worden of West Columbia, TX and Ina (Jerry) Paulson of Mayville. Eloise is preceded in death by her parents and one sister Mavis Olerud. FUNERAL SERVICE: Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at 1:30 PM at Mayville Lutheran Church, Mayville, ND. VISITATION: Tuesday, one hour prior to the funeral service, at Mayville Lutheran Church, Mayville, ND. BURIAL: Gran Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
