LeRoy Goodwin Domier

LeRoy Domier, 88, of Portland, ND, died Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Sanford Hospital in Mayville, ND. LeRoy Goodwin Domier was born in rural Traill County, July 25, 1922 to Oscar and Inga (Pladson) Domier. He was one of 11 children. LeRoy was born, raised and spent his entire life in the Portland area. He married Myrtle Aamodt at Crookston, MN on August 27, 1944. Together they had 5 children. He worked in the scrap iron business for most of his working years. Later, he and Myrtle owned and operated Domier Iron and Metal in Portland until they retired. LeRoy and Myrtle wintered in Arizona and also in Texas. LeRoy had a love of cars and could tell you anything about any car, no matter what year it was. He enjoyed auction sales, playing cards and having coffee with his friends and neighbors. LeRoy’s neighbors were very special to him. LeRoy is survived by one daughter, Beverly (Douglas) Bower of Fargo, ND; four sons, Sidney (Paddy) of Florissant, CO, Clayton (Marlene) of New Braunfels, TX, Gary (Kris) of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Bruce (Pat) of Colorado Springs, CO; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; his parents; and his 10 siblings, Alvin, Selma, Selmer, Esther, Inez, Delores, Gladys, George, Norman and Willie. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Portland Senior Center, or Aurdal Lutheran Church. Visitation: 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM on Monday at Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, ND, and will resume one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Aurdal Lutheran Church, Portland, ND. Burial: Aurdal Lutheran Church Cemetery, Portland, ND.
