Charles Jerome Satrom

October 27, 1932 — May 30, 2010

Charles Jerome Satrom, 77, of Page, ND passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND. Charles was born October 27, 1932, the youngest of 13 children of parents Olaf Richard and Mina (Olstad) Satrom. He was raised on the farm his parents homesteaded in the Colgate Township. Charles attended school at Colgate, transferring to Page High School for his senior year, graduating in 1950. Charles married the love of his life, Darlene Port, on September 24, 1952. They made their home on the family farm in Steele County. Charles was blessed with five wonderful daughters. He worked hard on the farm to provide for his family. He was a lucky man because he was able to make a living doing something he loved. When he was not farming, Charles liked to spend time with his family and friends. He was a kind man that enjoyed talking with anyone he met. Charles was reluctant to retire from farming, but when he finally did he enjoyed dividing his time between the family farm and winters in Mesa, AZ. He enjoyed many travels over the years with family and friends. The best of these was taking his family on a cruise to Alaska to celebrate his and Darlene’s 50th wedding anniversary. A husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Charles is leaving behind many who will feel the loss of his presence in their lives. Survivors include his wife, Darlene; daughters, Rebecca (Scott) Meek of Fargo, ND, Charlene (Gary) Hiam of Page, ND, Linda (Keith) Ulmer of Bismarck, ND and Loretta (Tony) Baasch of West Fargo, ND; son-in-law, George Pilgrim of Ayr, ND; grandchildren, Eric (Kelly) Pilgrim, Benjamin (Rachael) Hiam, Angela (Kyle) Zerface, Nicholas (Erin) Hiam, Jennifer (Kory) Nordick, Charles Meek, Timothy (Cindy) Hiam, Thomas Hiam, Marcus Ulmer, Adam Pilgrim, Emily Baasch, Michael Ulmer, Evan Pilgrim and Katie Jo Baasch; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Hilbert and Gordon Satrom and many other relatives. Charles is preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Pilgrim, his parents and seven brothers and three sisters. Visitation: Will be from 5–7 PM on Thursday at the church with a 7 PM public prayer service and will resume one hour prior to the funeral. Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, June 4, 2010 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Page, ND. Interment: Page Cemetery, Page, ND.
