Myron A. Rygg, 85, Portland, ND, died peacefully and unexpectedly doing what he enjoyed most, farming, with his son by his side, Monday, August 28, 2006, rural Portland, ND. Myron was born December 2, 1920, in Steele County, the son of Herbie and Ingeborg (Rud) Rygg. He grew up and attended school in Sherbrooke township. He graduated from Portland High School in 1939. Myron farmed in Steele County all of his life. On June 12, 1944, he married Lorraine Thompson. They lived on the farm until retiring into Portland in 1986 Myron was on the Enger township board and was also clerk of the school board. He was a lifetime member of the Bang Lutheran Church where he served in various capacities, which included being the church auditor. He was on the Portland school board, and also served on the Portland Credit Union Audit Committee for many years. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lorraine, Portland, ND; two daughters, Patricia (Thomas) Sparrow, Hawley, MN, and Susan (James) Akovenko, Waxhaw NC; one son, Marlow (Carmen), Portland, ND; two brothers, Donald, Mayville, ND, and Harold, Portland, ND; eight grand-children; eleven great grand-children; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, September 2, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Bang Lutheran Church, rural Portland, ND. VISITATION: Friday, September 1, 2006 from 5-6:30 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, ND, and one hour prior to the funeral service, at the church. BURIAL: Bang Cemetery, rural Portland, ND.
