Wayne K. Erickson

Wayne passed away Monday March 8, 2010, at the age of 74, at his home in Page, North Dakota, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Wayne was born September 17, 1935 in Page, North Dakota to Ernest and Mrytle (Thompson) Erickson. He graduated from Page High School in 1954. Wayne served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1957. He married Joanne Treinen on November 28, 1959 in Fargo, North Dakota. After serving in the Navy he farmed for several years then went to work for the Galesburg Elevator for 30 years. He also enjoyed calling and teaching square dancing for 26 years. He retired in 2001 at the age of 65. Wayne enjoyed his retirement with his wife Joanne; going camping, fishing, hunting, and watching his grandchildren playing sports. Wayne is survived by his wife Joanne, of 50 years; four sons, Tony (Terry) Erickson of Arlington, Texas, Steve (Angie) Erickson, Larry (Lisa) Erickson, Scott (Coralee) Erickson all of Hope, ND; one daughter, Dawn (Brad) Flaten of Galesburg, ND, 18 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He is survived by seven siblings, Ole Erickson, Joyce Flickenger, Vivian Kent all of Page, ND, John (Winifred) Erickson of Frenchtown, MT, Karen Knudsvig of Buxton, ND, Larry Erickson of Kindred, ND, MaryAnn (Larry) Hammer of Hutchinson, MN, and many nieces and nephews. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Deziree Erickson. Wayne touched many lives with his smile, sense of humor, and lots of love. He will be missed by many. Visitation: Will be from 5 to 7 PM on Friday, March 12, 2010, with a 7 PM public prayer service at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Page, ND, and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral: 2 PM Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Page. Burial: Page City Cemetery in the Spring Arrangements with Lindsey Carlson Funeral Home of Page, ND.
