Ruby H. Anderson

Ruby Anderson, 99, of Hope, ND, died Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, ND. Ruby Holmen was born on September 2, 1910 to Jacob and Gina (Vaar) Holmen in Clearwater County, MN. She completed her grade school education in the Holst Township, MN, country school. She married Ernest G. Anderson on September 20, 1930 in Valley City, ND. They farmed near Pillsbury, ND until Ernest’s death in 1975. Ruby soon moved into a retirement apartment in Hope, where she lived until 2006 when she moved into Luther Memorial Home. Ruby was a member of the Royal Homemakers Club and the Baldwin Presbyterian Church in Pillsbury. She was a member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens Club in Hope, and had been a member of the United Church of Hope since 1975. Ruby loved playing rummy with her grandchildren, holding babies, having coffee with friends at the Hope Lanes Café, and hugging the nurses at Luther Memorial Home. Ruby is survived by one son, Duane (Janice) Anderson of Hope; one daughter, Grace (Paul) Evans of Mead, WA; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; three sons-in-law, Walter Downs of Minneapolis, MN, Harold Risser of Park City, MT, and Alfred Mitzel of Fargo, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; three daughters, Gwen Downs, Doloris Risser and Agnes Mitzel; one infant son, James; one granddaughter, Joletta Ihry; and her siblings. Funeral Service: 11:00am Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Hope, ND. Visitation: 3-5 pm Monday, December 14, 2009 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND, and 2 hours prior to the funeral service, at the church in Hope. Interment: Hope City Cemetery, in the spring.
