Joanne Ione Holt, 82, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 25. Daughter of Joe & Mabel Bird, Joanne was born on September 28, 1935 in Kelso, North Dakota. She spent her youth in Blanchard, ND and attended high school in Mayville, ND. On August 23, 1953 she and Allan Holt were married in Mayville, North Dakota. Shortly thereafter, Joanne accompanied Allan to France where he was stationed with the US Army. Following Allan's service, the two returned to Mayville where they farmed. In 1969, they moved to rural Hatton to farm, raise their family, and Joanne worked at Hatton Hardware. They retired to West Fargo, ND in 2006. In addition to raising four children, Joanne enjoyed honing her exceptional handiwork skills, showering those around her with decadent baked goods, tending lovely gardens and walleye fishing. Joanne was also known as a fierce supporter of Bison football, where she could be seen at the Fargodome on any given Saturday fully decked out in green and gold. She is survived by her husband Allan Holt, daughters Jonal (Bruce) Uglem Hatton, ND, Vicky (Alan) Partin Baltimore, MD, Tami (John) Woxland Mayville, ND and son Matt (Kris) Holt Fargo, ND; her grandchildren Ross and Andrea Uglem, Topper and Dane Fox, Sean Woxland, Derek (Jennelle) Holt; her sisters Maxine Garrett, Blanchard, ND and Ilean Maetzold, Fargo, ND; brother Bill (Hazel) Bird, Hillsboro, ND and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Mabel Bird. Joanne's family invites you to a prayer service in her honor on Sunday, October 29 from 4-6 pm with a 6 PM Public Prayer Service at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND. Funeral services will be Monday, October 30 at 11am at Mayville United Church of Christ.
