Dennis Wayne Schafer

Dennis “Sandy” Schafer, 73, of Mayville, ND died on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood, ND. Dennis was born June 7, 1944 to Edmund and Edna Schafer in Underwood ND. He grew up on a farm in rural Underwood where he attended school. He then joined the Navy. He married Annette Lucken in September 1965, in Portland ND, they had two children together. He married Joyce Love in July 1987, in Phoenix AZ. He lived in many places over his lifetime California, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Oregon, but he began and ended his life in North Dakota. He enjoyed arts and crafts. He loved animals. He worked at varies jobs threw out his life. He is survived by his daughter: Tamara (her wife Tammie) Schafer; his son Daniel (his wife Christy) Schafer; his six grandsons: Kevin, Griffen, Brayden, Ryen, Lynken, and Caleb; his granddaughter: Candra; his sister: Laverna McKelvy; his six nephews and his sister-in-law: Gail Schafer. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Donald; and brother-in-law: Robert. Graveside Services: Will be at 4:30 PM Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Bruflat Cemetery in Portland, ND. Military Honors: May~Port Honor Guard and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors.
