Boyd Owen Nerdahl

Boyd Nerdahl, 73, Sharon, N.D. passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on June 26, 2017 in Sanford Hospital. He was born on July 1, 1943 in Sharon, the son of Norval and Hazel (Klabo) Nerdahl. He grew up on the family farm and attended all 12 years of school in Sharon graduating in 1961. He went on to graduate from NDSU in 1965 with an Ag Econ degree and continued his love of agriculture and farming with his brother Lee for over 50 years, retiring in 2006. Boyd married Cheryl Wenaas on September 5, 1965 in Sharon where they spent their life on the family farm. He is survived by his wife Cheryl, oldest daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Scott Verwest and their children Hailey and Paige; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Mark Ewen and their children, Clark, Abigail and Claire; and their son and daughter-in-law Tim and Tracy Nerdahl and their children, Tyson, Tallyn and Troy. Boyd should be remembered as a man with a quiet manner, passionate and proud, and conscientious and determined in his work. He enjoyed watching Twins baseball, Bison football and spending time with family. He also liked spending summers on the farm and winters in Arizona. Should friends desire, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to a charity of their choice. Visitation and a time to greet the family will be Friday, June 30 from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in Baker Funeral Chapel, Mayville. A celebration of his life and his birthday, will be Saturday, July 1 at 10:30 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sharon. Burial will be in the Sharon Cemetery.
