Henrietta Strand

Henrietta “Henny” (Thuen) Strand, 81, Mayville, ND, died Thursday, May 11, 2006 at Union Hospital under Hospice Care, Mayville, ND. Henny was born April 1, 1925, in Northwood, ND to Hans and Ella Thuen. She married James Strand on November 18, 1945, at her parents’ home in Portland, ND. They purchased their farm west of Portland in 1946, and lived and farmed there until they retired in 1997. Henny enjoyed the farm and actively was involved in the community. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crafts, quilting and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Aurdal Lutheran church, as well as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a rural Homemakers Club. She became a resident of the Luther Memorial Home in the fall of 2004. She is survived by one sister, Alice Higdem, Mayville, ND; one brother, Harold Thuen, Portland, ND; four sons, Jerald (Carol), Casselton, ND, James (Karen) Bismarck, ND, Michael (Madonna), Portland, ND, and Dean, Portland, ND; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; two brothers, Selmer and Reuben Thuen; and two sisters, Judith Strand and Margaret Bauer. FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, May 15, 2006 at 10:30 AM at Aurdal Lutheran Church, Portland, ND. VISITATION: Sunday, May 14, 2006 from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, ND and one hour before the funeral at the church. BURIAL: Aurdal Cemetery, Portland, ND.
