Kathryn Renee Berg, 65, of Grand Forks, ND died at her home on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from heart failure. She was born on January 6, 1952 in Mayville, ND to Theodore and Inez Fiskum. She married Bruce Berg on July 18, 1968. The couple lived in Oceanside, CA for two years while Bruce finished his enlistment with the Marine Corps. They then resided briefly in East Grand Forks, MN before moving to Jamestown, ND in 1974, where they lived for almost 30 years. Most recently Bruce and Kathy have been living in Grand Forks, ND. They joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grand Forks in 2015. Kathy loved to sing and play the piano. While in Jamestown, she was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church (WELS); a small congregation which she and Bruce helped get established in the early 1980’s. One of Kathy’s great joys in life was attending the basketball, baseball, and football games of her sons Shane and Shawn. She struggled with health issues for many years, but retained a good sense of humor despite her challenges. She is survived by her husband Bruce Berg; two sons, Shane Berg of Princeton, NJ and Shawn Berg of Buffalo, NY; her sister Margery Newman of Sun City West, AZ; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Theodore and Inez Fiskum; a baby brother Toby Fiskum; and her sister Arlene Jorgensen. Visitation: Will be 5–7 PM on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 2:30 PM Monday, April 17, 2017 at the First American Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND. Burial: Will be at the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
