Sigbert Haugen

Sigbert Haugen, 86, of Mayville, ND died Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville ND. Sigbert Haugen was born September 30, 1919 in Nekoma, ND, the son of Edward and Ingeborg Haugen. He attended Lindaas Consolidated School, Mayville, ND, through 7th grade. Sigbert served in WWII, stationed at the Aleutian Islands. He was united in marriage to Berglot Brenden, March 21, 1953. They had two children, Rebecca and Edward. They farmed at Clifford, ND and Sig also worked at Fuller Land Company, Hope, ND. Later they moved to Mayville where Sig worked for the Mayville Elevator. They moved to Sig’s home farm in Clifford where he continued in his shop as a well-known mechanic. Sig enjoyed fixing, woodworking, his dog Pal and visiting. He took great pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered with wonderful memories. He is survived by his wife Berglot Haugen, Mayville, ND; son, Edward (Glenda) Haugen, Portland, ND; daughter, Rebecca (Dale) Mapel, Fargo, ND; 5 grandchildren, Stacy (Mike) Mapel Drees, Renae Willis, Adam Mapel, Terry Haugen, and JoAnna Haugen; 2 great-grandchildren, Bailey Willis, Alexander Mapel; sister Olga Asheim, Buxton, ND; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Edna Haugen, brothers, Arthur, Albert and Harry. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Bruflat Lutheran Church, Portland, ND. VISITATION: Friday, April 28, 2006 from 5-7PM at Baker Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church. BURIAL: Bruflat Cemetery, Portland, ND.
