Corinne M. Eliason

September 27, 1927 — May 3, 2016

Corinne Eliason, 88, formerly of Buxton, ND died Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Corinne Marie Eliason was born on Sept. 27, 1927 to Richard Sr. and Malina (Foss) Camrud in Wolf Point, MT. She was the 4th of 7 children. She graduated from high school in Buxton, ND and received her education degree from Mayville State. She was a teacher at a rural Buxton school, a nurse’s aide at the Hillsboro Hospital, and later a proud house wife. On June 5, 1948, Corinne married Milton Franklin Eliason in Crookston, MN. They moved to a farm near Buxton, ND where they farmed and raised their three sons together. They later built a house in town, where Corinne continued to live for quite some time after Milton passed away in 1978. In time, Corinne moved to residences in Grand Forks, ND and Mayville, ND and even lived in sunny Fountain Hills, AZ for a few months where she was well taken care of by her oldest son Marvin and his wife Linda before moving to the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. Corinne was a very loving woman at heart. She was always kind and caring and even a little stubborn (in a good way) at times. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren referred to her as Besta. Bestamor is Norwegian for grandmother. She showed her love most through her excellent cooking and baking. She typically had the meals/treats ready before family and visitors even walked through her door. Some of the family favorites included pork roast and gravy, kumla, rice pudding, hot dishes, banana & pumpkin bread, brownies, sunbuckles and countless others. She spent a lot of time knitting, crocheting, reading, and there was rarely a cross-word or jumble puzzle she could not solve in the daily newspaper. Corinne lived her life through her grandchildren, taking in all of their activities and sporting events in person or listening on the radio as much as possible. She was always so proud to introduce them and her great grandchildren to anyone she could. Corinne is survived by her three sons: Marvin (Linda) Eliason of Fountain Hills, AZ, Larry (Mary) Eliason of Grand Forks, ND and Don Eliason of Buxton, ND; 6 grandchildren: Mindi (Jeff) Lupien of Fountain Hills, AZ, Angie Eliason (Christa) of Las Vegas, NV, Jeff Eliason of Thompson, ND, Ashley Eliason of Grand Forks, ND, Lindsey (Josh) McMenamy of Fargo, ND, Kim (Lonnie) Olson of Reynolds, ND and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law: Natalie, Caroline and Madelyn Camrud and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents: Richard Sr. and Malina Camrud; her husband: Milton Eliason; her brothers: Idan (Marcella), Omar (Lillian), Ray, Richard, and Ted Camrud; her sister: Carol Kloster (Larry Carroll, Lanny Rogness, and Orvis Kloster); her grandsons: Jon Eliason and Matt Froelich and her great granddaughter: Mary Froelich. The family would like to thank all of the caring staff at Luther Memorial Home and Hospice of Red River Valley for all of the wonderful attention and care they provided Corinne. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Soderberg Cemetery, Immanuel Lutheran Church or Hospice of the Red River Valley. Visitation: Will be from 9 – 11 AM Monday, May 9, 2016 at the church. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Buxton, ND. Burial: Will be at the Soderberg Cemetery in Buxton, ND.
