Elmer H. Lund, 93, Mayville, ND, died Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, ND. Elmer was born August 14, 1912 near Grygla, MN, the first child of Palmer and Katherine (Bethke) Lund. In 1924 he moved with his family to a farm near Ponsford, MN. As a young adult he began working in the logging and lumber milling industry. In 1938 he moved to West Fargo, ND and later became a partner in a retail lumber yard. On April 6, 1939 he married Drusilla Randolph at Moorhead, MN. In 1960 he moved to Mayville, ND where he managed a lumber yard until his retirement in 1977. During his post retirement years, Elmer enjoyed traveling, woodworking, and farm work at the John Brunsdale Farm. He was active in a number of community organizations, including Mayville Lutheran Church, Goose River Heritage Center, Sons of Norway, Volunteer Ambulance Squad and Senior Citizens Center. He is survived by two sons, Wesley Lund, Grand Forks, ND, Wayne (Yvonne) Lund, Ellicott City, MD; two daughters, Shirley (Charles) Moe, Vining, MN, Joanne (Ronald) Bartel, Eden Prairie, MN; eight grandchildren, Dr. Michael Moe, Sauk Centre, MN, Major Steven Moe, Colfax, WI, Dr. Mark Moe, Little Falls, MN, Scott Bartel, Gainesville, FL, Jeff Bartel, Chaska, MN, Jill Bartel, Eden Prairie, MN, Andrew Lund and Katlynn Lund, both of Ellicott City, MD; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Cora Meyers and Amy Allanson, both of Apache Junction, AZ, and Neta Raider, Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Drusilla in 1992; parents; infant brother Max; sisters Mary Colgrove and Esther Ruhnke. FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, March 27, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Mayville Lutheran Church, Mayville, ND. VISITATION: Sunday, March 26, 2006 from 3-5 PM at Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, ND, and one hour before funeral at the Church. BURIAL: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
