Charles Luther Aamold

Charles Luther Aamold, 77, Portland, ND, died Sunday, March 26, 2006 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Luther was born the son of Louis and Inga (Eken) Aamold in Portland, ND on July 12, 1928. He attended school at Lindaas and graduated from Mayville High School in 1947. He then spent 6 years in the Army, serving in Germany. Luther married LaVerne Bakke in 1951 in Mayville. After the war he returned and graduated from Mayville State Teachers College in 1956. He taught in Casselton for one year, Maddock for three years, and Chino, CA for twenty-six years. He retired in 1986 and returned to Mayville in 1989 and then moved to Portland, ND in 2004. Luther enjoyed woodcarving, basketball, golf and family gatherings. He is survived by his wife LaVerne, Portland; children, Steven (Mary), San Jose, CA and their children, Matt and Brent; Tim (Michele), Phelan, CA and their children, Paul and Eric; John (Robin), Worland, WY and their children, Christopher, Jennifer, Karissa, Erica and Sarah; Bart (Lisa), Portland, ND and their children, Matt and Jared; and Deborah Aamold, Casper, WY and her children Bryon and Shanon; four great grandchildren, O’Hara, Jade, Skylar and Brandon; Brother, Roger Aamold, Bemidji, MN; two sisters, Donna Wonser, Mayville, ND and Ione Tunseth, Oakes, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Leonard and Duane; and sister Marion Berg. FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 PM Friday, March 31, 2006 at Aurdal Lutheran Church, Portland, ND. VISITATION: Thursday, March 30, 2006 from 6-7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, ND. BURIAL: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
