Darlene "Dee" Palmer

Darlene A. Palmer, 67, of Portland, ND, died Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Darlene (Dee) was born on August 6, 1941 to Pete and Mary (Foley) Azares in Oregon City, OR. She attended schools in Oregon, Washington and California. She also attended nursing school and became a CNA. She married Gerald Palmer on August 3, 1974 in San Ramon, CA. Darlene enjoyed doing many crafts including crocheting, photography and drawing. She loved to decorate her house and work in the flower and vegetable gardens. Her life was marked by her service for others. She volunteered countless times for many causes. Darlene found her deepest fulfillment in taking care of her family. She loved her “gramma days” with her “babies”. Undergirding her selfless spirit was her love for and faith in her Savior. Darlene is survived by her husband of 34 years, Gerald of Portland; 4 children: Lisa Juliano (Kevin) of Rancho Cordova, CA, Steve Scott of Atlanta, GA, Terry (Teresa) Palmer of Portland, ND, Tom Palmer of Austin, TX, sister Demetria Keintz of Clear Lake, CA; 10 grandchildren, Chris Correa, Letisha Juliano, Timothy Juliano, Joseph Juliano, Dennis Juliano, Michael Scott, Morgan Palmer, Kade Palmer, Isaiah Palmer, Maggie Palmer and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, George (King) Herbie Hamilton III. Visitation: Thursday, April 23, 2009, from 5-6:30 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, ND, and one hour before the funeral at the church. Funeral: 2:00 PM, Friday, April 24, 2009, at Riverside Evangelical Free Church, Mayville, ND. Burial: Aurdal Cemetery, Portland, ND.
