Karolyn Mae Aasen

July 16, 1941 — April 14, 2009

Karolyn Mae Aasen, 67, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, after a short battle with cancer, and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Karolyn was born on July 16, 1941, at, Mayville, the daughter of Kermit and Marion (Ringerud) Moen. She grew up in Mayville, graduating from Mayville High School. On July 26, 1959 she married Wayne Aasen at Mayville Lutheran Church. Together they had four sons. This summer they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Karolyn was a stay-at-home mom, staying busy raising her family. In 1985 she began working as a secretary for Northern Pride Feeds in Cummings, ND. In 1991 Karolyn and Wayne moved to Fargo, and for the past 12 years, she worked for Walmart. Karolyn was a long-time member of Mayville Lutheran Church, and currently of Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo. She loved quilting and donated numerous quilts to various organizations, including MeritCare pediatric and neonatal units. Karolyn loved and cherished her family, children and grandchildren. Karolyn is survived by her husband, Wayne of Fargo; 3 sons, Keith (Barb) of Bismarck, ND, Todd (Adell) of Hillsboro and Danny (Amy) of Fargo; daughter-in-law Angela Aasen of Cummings; 9 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jessica, Katie, Andrew, Krissy, Zach, Ryan, Danielle and Casey; 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kris (Becky) Moen of Mayville and Gary (Lavina) Moen of Boise, ID; and 1 sister, Loretta Moen of Mesa, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son Jeff. Visitation: Friday, April 17, 2009, from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, ND, and one hour before the funeral at the church. Funeral: 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Mayville Lutheran Church, Mayville, ND. Burial: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
