Ardyce C. Newman

December 15, 1930 — September 25, 2015

Ardyce Collette Newman, 84 of Mayville, ND was called home to her Heavenly Savior on September 25th 2015 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Ardyce was born December 15 1930 to Carl and Alma Enger. She attended elementary school in a one room school house in rural Hatton ND. She stayed with her grandparents so she could attend high school in Mayville. During that time she met a handsome blond haired blue eyed boy who lived just three doors down from her grandparents. His name was Donald Newman. She attended Mayville State University where she earned her associate degree in teaching. Ardy and Don were married at Little Forks Lutheran Church on March 22, 1951. They made their first home in Portland Junction, then Buxton, before settling in Mayville. Ardy’s primary job was that of wife, mother, and homemaker, which she did like none other. However, she did work for a short time at the Ben Franklin, and Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, before becoming the secretary for A.H. Newman Inc, where she worked for numerous years. Together Ardy and Don raised four daughters and a son. She was involved in the Mayville women's club, serving as president for a number of years. Ardy was very active in her church, Ebenezer Lutheran. She was a member of the church Circle and Ladies Aid, and was always involved in the Sunday School, serving as a teacher, and the superintendent for many years. She continued to help with the Sunday School up until the time that she entered LMH. She loved children, and introducing them to Jesus was very near and dear to her heart. She touched many lives by hosting Bible study in her home for many years. She spent many hours in fellowship with those women, and considered their friendship priceless. Ardy loved God, she loved her husband, her children, grandchildren, and friends. She extended love and kindness to all those around her. Ardyce is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Don; brothers Ordell and Nello; sister Deloris; four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
