Jodie Leiss

Jodie L. Leiss, 56, of Mayville, ND peacefully passed away August 22, 2015 in her home after a courageous fight with cancer. Jodie Leiss was born November 4, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of Joseph and Dolores (Bias) Ries. She attended Brooklyn Center, MN High School and graduated in 1977. She married Marty Leiss on November 12, 1988 in Golden Valley, MN and they moved to North Dakota that same year. She attended Hair Designer Academy in Grand Forks, ND in 1989, and became a cosmetologist which was her passion. After 5 years, she was unable to work in the cosmetology field, and became administrative assistant at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. She greatly enjoyed her time at the church and enjoyed all the people she met throughout her time there. She also worked at Ingebretson Airspray as an administrative assistant. Jodie was a very hospitable person and she enjoyed entertaining. Her guest’s needs were her priority. She enjoyed boating and fishing, as well as traveling to vacation locations where she liked to challenge her brother to a good game of tennis. She was very active in the MayPort Food Pantry throughout the years. Jodie is survived by her husband: Marty Leiss, Mayville; mother: Dolores “Dee” Ries, Plymouth, MN; sisters: Sue Ries, Eden Prairie, MN, Peg (Mike) Walsh, St. Cloud, MN; brother: Joe (Christi) Ries, Monticello, MN; Abby Leiss, Mayville – Jodie’s shih-tzu she adored, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father: Joseph F. Ries and a sister: Dolores Mary Ries. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Red River Valley, 1701 38th St STE 101, Fargo, ND 58103-4499 Visitation: Will be 5 – 7 PM on Friday, August 28, 2015 with a 7 PM public prayer service at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Mayville and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: Noon on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Mayville, ND. Burial: Will be at the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
