Theoline L. Gunderson

Theoline (Knudsvig) Gunderson, 81, died Saturday, May 30, 2015 at home in Mayville surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Theoline was born May 30, 1934 at rural Buxton to Ludvig and Theli (Kveen) Knudsvig. She graduated from Buxton High School in 1952. On October 16, 1954 she married Gordon Gunderson, also of Buxton. In her young years, she worked many potato harvests with Rogenes, providing childcare for several area teachers’ children, maintained the Buxton Rest Area, worked at Nokota Packers, and retired from LMH in 2006. She and Gordon lived most of their married life in the Buxton area and moved to Mayville in 1992. Theoline enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved to read, working puzzles, and an exciting game of Rummikiub. In retirement she enjoyed the Senior Center and the “Coffee Haus” at LMH. She was an active member of Ny Stavanger Church of Buxton and served in many areas including; Sunday School, VBS, and Ladies Aid. She is survived by 2 daughters: Gaylene (Neal) Johnson of Cummings and Trudy Gunderson of Grand Forks, ND; son: Kevin (Sharon) of Dexter, MN; 9 grandchildren: Staci (Ryan) Anderson, Ross (Allison) Johnson, Mindy (Travis) Dale, LaRinda (John) Arneson, Reed (Lacey) Middleton, Abbey Middleton, Rachel, Cheryl and Steven Gunderson; 9 great grandchildren; numerous brothers and sisters in law; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband; sisters: Alvina Hanson and Lorraine Finstrom; great granddaughters: VernaAnn and Lily Johnson. Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or the Gideons. Visitation: Will be 5 – 7 PM with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Ny Stavanger Lutheran Church in Buxton, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church in Mayville. Funeral Service: 1:30 PM Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Riverside Evangelical Free Church in Mayville, ND. Burial: Will be at the Immanuel North Cemetery, Buxton, ND.
