Allene D. Thorson

Allene Dagmar (Sundet) Thorson, 89, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Page, ND, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the Elim Care Center in Fargo. Allene was born May 23, 1924, on the family farm in Bear Park Township, Norman County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Peter and Martha (Degerness) Sundet. Allene was baptized and confirmed at Ness Lutheran Church near her home. She attended Longfellow #56 Elementary School and graduated from Gary High School in May, 1941. She attended Interstate Business College, Fargo, ND. Allene was employed as an accountant by various businesses in Minnesota, North Dakota and Washington for over 40 years, retiring in 1993 as Business Manager of the Page Public School District. She loved her work and enjoyed her fellow employees and kept in touch with many through the years. Allene married Ardie O. Thorson, a Galesburg, ND farmer in Minneapolis. Ardie and Allene purchased a home in Page, ND in 1964. Allene loved her family and loved to cook, bake, garden, play cards, read and do crossword puzzles. Ardie and Allene traveled extensively. She was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, WELCA and Mary Circle, Fun and Friendship Senior Citizens Club, holding many different offices in these organizations as well as the Royal Neighbors of America. She loved attending her children and grandchildren’s athletic events, concerts and programs, in addition to any sporting events involving the Page High School teams. Allene lived in Page until 2010. Since then she has been cared for by the wonderful staff at Elim Care Center in Fargo. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Duane Johnson) of Forest Lake, MN, and two sons Howard (Paulette) of Fargo, ND and Marvin (JoAnn) of Page, ND. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Alec and Evan Johnson, Amy and Karley Thorson and John, Matthew and Andrew Thorson. She is also survived by her sister, Kathryn Larson, of Eagan, MN, and three sisters-in law: Bernice Sundet, Gladys Sundet and Lilly King. Allene’s husband preceded her in death in 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Allen, John, Phillip and James and her sister Margaret. Visitation: 5-7 PM on Friday, May 23, 2014 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Page and will resume one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral Service: 1:00 PM Saturday, May 24, 2013 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Page, ND. Burial: Will be 3:30 PM Saturday at the Clifford Cemetery, Clifford, ND.
