Adeline Sophie Ellingrud

Adeline Ellingrud, 89, of Mayville, ND, died Monday, June 30, 2008 at Union Hospital in Mayville. Sophie Adeline Aasen Ellingrud was born August 16, 1918 at Hatton, ND to Gilbert and Josephine (Coltem) Aasen. She was raised in Mayville and graduated from Mayville High School. She and Eugene R. Ellingrud were married July 10, 1937 at Mayville. They lived in Mayville, Grand Forks, and Rugby where they owned and operated grain elevators. They spent winters in Mesa, AZ until Gene passed away June 25, 2000. She lived in assisted living until February 2008 when she moved to Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Adeline was actively involved in TOPS and earned her 25 year KOPS award, and also was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rugby. Her many hobbies included: crocheting, making lefse for friends, rubber stamping, ceramics and enjoying walks. She is survived by one son, Ray (Mary) of Apple Valley, MN; one daughter, Bonnie (Charles) Orvik of Clear Lake, MN and Mesa, AZ; two grandsons; two granddaughters; three great-grandsons; one sister, Donna Bakkum of Mayville; one brother, Orlo Aasen of Mayville; 6 sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene, her parents, one sister, Inez Fiskum, and six brothers, Gilman, Palmer, Marlow, Carl, Earl and Ernest.
